2015 NFL Playoffs: Patriots will Play Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX

The New England Patriots will take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

It's official: the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will play each other in Super Bowl XLIX.  The game will be played in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 1 at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts 45-7 in the AFC Championship game to advance to the Super Bowl, while the Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in overtime in the NFC title game.

For Colts fans, this is really a terrible matchup in the Super Bowl.  Here are the options: either root for Russell Wilson and the Seahawks to win a second ring, in which case we'd have to endure an entire offseason of the "Wilson is better than Luck" discussion that so many in the media and fans love to have, or root for the Patriots, in which case Tom Brady would get his fourth Super Bowl ring (making the media and fans argue that he's better than Peyton Manning).  No, neither of them are good options.  But that's where we're at right now.

That'll be the Super Bowl matchup in two weeks, however, as both the Patriots and the Seahawks advanced to the Super Bowl on Sunday.
