The first round of the Greatest Game in Indianapolis Colts history tournament kicks off today with the #1 seed 2009 AFC Championship game against the Jets going against the #16 seed 2013 home victory over the Texans. Some info on both:
(1) 2009 AFC Championship Game
A rematch of a game just a few weeks before, won* by the Jets 29-15, the Colts started off a little sluggish against the league's top-ranked Defense, but once Peyton Manning got them figured out, the rout was on, a 30-17 victory, sending the Colts to their second Super Bowl in four years.
(16) 2013 vs. Texans
One of the better Defensive performances since 2001 (9th), the Colts dominated the Texans 25-3, didn't allow them any closer to the end zone than the Colts 31, and had a pretty sweet Robert Mathis strip-sack for a safety, which gave him the Franchise record in both season sacks (16.5) and career sacks (108). The Texans were a putrid 2-14 in 2013, but a stifling Colts Defense and record-setting day for Mathis puts this in the tournament.
Voting closes at Midnight (PT) on Wednesday night. Get your vote in now!
