The Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers are getting ready to face off tonight on Monday Night Football in rainy, wet conditions, and there's a lot riding on the game. The Panthers will be trying to stay undefeated, while the Colts will be looking to improve their record to 4-4 and perhaps help save their coach's job, at least until the end of the season.
Before the game, however, it's important to look at those players who won't be participating in the game. For the Colts tonight, four of their seven inactives are dealing with injuries, while there are really no surprises whatsoever. Here's the full list of inactives:
Phillip Dorsett, WR (ankle)
Winston Guy, S (shoulder)
Josh Robinson, RB
Nate Irving, ILB (knee)
Khaled Holmes, C (neck)
Denzelle Good, OL
Zach Kerr, DL
Dorsett, Irving, and Holmes were all ruled out on Friday, and while Guy was officially doubtful, he didn't travel with the team to Charlotte, making it clear that he wouldn't play. Dorsett will be out for a while longer, as he fractured his fibula last week and underwent surgery for the injury that is expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks. Though Dorsett and Irving can both be solid contributors if healthy, the only starter that will miss tonight's game for the Colts is center Khaled Holmes. Jonotthan Harrison will make his first start of the season in place of Holmes. Harrison is the only active center on the roster tonight, so if he gets injured, another lineman would have to move out of position to fill in (Chuck Pagano mentioned guys like Jack Mewhort, Todd Herremans, or Joe Reitz).
Again, there aren't really any surprises here in regards to the Colts' inactives. Since the signing of Ahmad Bradshaw, Josh Robinson has been a healthy scratch, while Denzelle Good and Zach Kerr are both regular scratches as well.
As for the Panthers, here are their inactives - including their four-time Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil, one of the best centers in the NFL, who will miss the game due to an injury. That's a big loss for the Panthers, for sure.
Dean Marlowe, DB
Brandon Wegher, RB
Shaq Thompson, LB
Ryan Kalil, C
Kevin Norwood, WR
Mario Addison, DL
Dwan Edwards, DL
