The Indianapolis Colts today will take on the Houston Texans in a game that very likely will decide the AFC South winner. If the Colts win today, they have a very good chance of making the playoffs, while if the Colts lose today, they have a very good chance of missing the playoffs.
It's a huge game, then, and before it starts, let's take a look at those players who won't see the field today for the Colts. Here's the full list of inactives:
Andrew Luck, QB (abdomen/kidney)
Greg Toler, CB (knee/hamstring)
D'Joun Smith, CB (knee)
Colt Anderson, S (ankle)
Sio Moore, LB
Lance Louis, OL
Bjoern Werner, OLB
The Colts will be short on cornerback depth today with both Greg Toler and D'Joun Smith inactive. That leaves Vontae Davis and Jalil Brown to start for a second straight week, Darius Butler in the slot, and the recently signed Tay Glover-Wright at corner. Hopefully no one gets injured today, because the Colts are very thin there.
For good news, wide receiver Donte Moncrief is active after missing practice all week and being listed as questionable with a toe injury. All six wide receivers are active for the Colts, and that includes Moncrief - the team's number two receiving target. Hopefully he will be able to play well, but we will have to see how much he plays. Having him play and produce, though, would be a nice boost to the offense.
Bjoern Werner is once again inactive, the fourth time in the last five games that he hasn't dressed on gameday (the only time he dressed in that span was when the Colts were dealing with injuries at linebacker, yet Werner still didn't play a ton). We say it every week by this point, but Werner's time with the Colts seems to be drawing to a close.
We will also see the return of left tackle Anthony Castonzo and inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman to the lineup after a few weeks, which should also give the team a nice boost and help them today.
