Ahmad Bradshaw Pleads Not Guilty to Marijuana Possession Charge

Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw pleaded not guilty to a marijuana possession charge today. A pretrial date has been scheduled for February 25.

A week ago we found out that Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw had been cited for marijuana possession and was to appear in court today, February 17.  According to FOX Sports and other media outlets, Bradshaw pleaded not guilty to the marijuana possession charge today and a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for February 25.

The fines had been payable without a court appearance had Bradshaw not pleaded guilty, according to a court deputy clerk.  The charge stemmed from a traffic stop last week in which marijuana was discovered.  Bradshaw was cited for marijuana possession and for following too close in his car.

Bradshaw was off to a terrific start for the Colts in 2014 before fracturing his fibula in week eleven against the Patriots and ending up on injured reserve.  In ten games, Bradshaw rushed for 425 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.7 yards per carry, while adding 38 receptions for 300 yards and six touchdowns in the passing game.  Combined, he accounted for 725 yards and eight touchdowns for the Colts in ten games this year, and he was a major factor in the offense.

He will be a free agent this offseason when his contract expires, and it will be interesting to see whether the Colts choose to re-sign him.  They have signed him to two consecutive one-year deals and he has played very well when healthy, but the problem has been that he hasn't stayed healthy.  He has played in just 13 games for the Colts over the past two years and has ended both seasons on injured reserve.  He is a terrific running back when healthy, but that unfortunately hasn't been too often.
