There's a pretty crazy reported story coming out of Atlanta today regarding a current Colts player.
According to Jovita Moore of WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta (hat tip to Robert Littal of Black Sports Online for catching the story), Colts outside linebacker Erik Walden was reportedly stabbed by his ex-girlfriend, while his current girlfriend suffered a broken arm. Here's what Moore wrote on Facebook:
"Erika Palmer is in a local jail. Police say the mother of 2 left her Tennessee home to drive to Georgia and beat up Eric Walden, a linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts and the father of her children. She stopped at a WalMart on the way and bought a knife and bat. Police say she broke Walden's girlfriend's arm with the bat. And cut him with the knife. Walden didn't want to press charges. But police charged her with 13 crimes."
So, according to this report, Walden's ex-girlfriend, with whom he has two kids, decided to drive all the way to Georgia, stopping at WalMart to get a knife and a bat, and then proceeding to stab Walden with the knife and break his current girlfriend's arm with a bat. It doesn't sound like Walden's injury is that serious and the report simply says that he was cut with a knife, but it's still a crazy story nonetheless. A few years ago (in 2011), Walden was charged with domestic violence against Erika Palmer, and he was required to complete fifty hours of community service as a result.
Walden has played the last two years with the Colts, playing in 30 games at outside linebacker (starting 29). He has recorded 82 tackles, nine sacks, three passes defensed, and two forced fumbles during his time with the Colts, and he tied for the team lead in sacks in 2014 with six.
