Report: Former Colts Wide Receiver Hakeem Nicks Visiting the Titans

According to The Tennesseean's Jim Wyatt, former Colts wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is visiting the AFC South rival Tennessee Titans today.

The Indianapolis Colts have swept the division rival Tennessee Titans in each of the past three seasons and boast a current seven-game winning streak overall against the team.  The Titans are looking to end that streak in the 2015 season, and one player who they are bringing in for a visit as they attempt to do just that is former Colts wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, according to The Tennesseean's Jim Wyatt.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>WR Hakeem Nicks is visiting the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Titans?src=hash">#Titans</a>, per sources</p>&mdash; Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) <a href="https://twitter.com/jwyattsports/status/587709311540977664">April 13, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Of course, the visit doesn't at all mean that Nicks will end up there, but it's at least some interest for the veteran receiver who hasn't received much over the first month of free agency.  He also had a visit with the San Francisco 49ers but has not signed with them, as they may be hoping to wait until after the May 12th free agency deadline.  Either way, Nicks recently told FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo that, "I'm nowhere near finished, man" and that he plans to continue playing.

Nicks spent the 2014 season with the Colts and it was a rough one.  He managed decent numbers, with 38 receptions for 405 yards and four scores last year, but he struggled all year with a lack of timing with quarterback Andrew Luck and a lack of explosiveness, among other things.  He does deserve credit for picking up his play in the last few weeks of the season, but it still was an overall disappointment.

If a team were to sign him, they'd be hoping that he could at worst play like he did in the final few weeks of the season for the Colts and at best reach his former level when he was one of the game's top receivers.  There's not much to indicate that he an get there, but that's the hope and some team will likely give him a chance, as he's one of the top remaining free agent wideouts.  Perhaps that team will be the Titans, and if that's the case, we could see Nicks going up against the Colts in 2015.  But there's a long way to go before that happens, as so far it's only a visit for Nicks and the Titans.
