Colts, Pep Hamilton in Attendance at Tevin Coleman's Pro Day

Indiana University running back Tevin Coleman held his pro day today for NFL teams, and the Indianapolis Colts were well represented.

Indiana University running back Tevin Coleman held his pro day today, and every NFL team was represented.  Perhaps no team was more interested than the Indianapolis Colts, however, who sent a number of people to watch Coleman, including offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, running backs coach Charlie Williams, and national scout Matt Terpening.

Coleman certainly impressed, as his 40 time was in the low 4.4s.  He's a very intriguing prospect who many Colts fans want the team to draft due to his Indiana connection and the fact that the Colts need a running back.  And in the second round, he would be a good option for the team.  He's a good runner and a good receiver out of the backfield as well and would help any team.

It sounds as if the Colts are interested in him, as they sent their offensive coordinator and running back coach to watch Coleman.  Of course, with the pro day being at IU it wasn't a long trip, but it's still noteworthy, particularly the report of Hamilton talking with Coleman about route running.  If Coleman is still available at pick number 61 in the second round, it wouldn't be a big surprise to see the Colts take him.

The team signed Frank Gore this offseason, but they could use a younger back who could develop into their starter in a year or two.  That's Tevin Coleman, and he could contribute right away in 2015 while playing behind Gore while then also hopefully taking over down the road once the team moves on from Gore.  It's likely that the Colts will take a running back in the draft; it's just a question of which one it will be.  Indiana's Tevin Coleman is an intriguing possibility.
