We're in the midst of a quiet period of the NFL offseason when it comes to work on the field, but that won't last for long. This coming Monday, teams that have a new head coach can begin their offseason workout programs, so it's coming soon.
The Colts have a returning head coach, as Chuck Pagano is back for a fourth season, and so they won't be starting right away, but two weeks after teams with new head coaches can start their offseason programs, the other NFL teams can as well - and that includes the Colts, who will start on April 20, per Colts.com's Kevin Bowen.
The @Colts 9-week offseason program starts April 20, concludes the week of June 8th with a veteran mini-camp. Rookie mini-camp is May 8-10.— Kevin Bowen (@KBowenColts) April 2, 2015
The first media availability, per Colts.com's Steve Andress, will be April 22.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>April 22nd is when we start hearing from players again with open locker room to the media during offseason workouts. 20 days. Won't be long.</p>— Steve Andress (@ColtsReporter) <a href="https://twitter.com/ColtsReporter/status/583648395295854594">April 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Furthermore, Bowen outlines a few other key dates for the Colts this offseason. They will hold their rookie mini-camp on May 8-10, which is Friday through Sunday and is the first weekend that teams are able to hold their rookie camp, as it is one weekend after the NFL Draft.
The Colts will then have their veteran mini-camp the week of June 8th, which will be the final week of offseason work until training camp begins. The team has yet to release dates for camp, but it's expected to be near the end of July like normal (though perhaps slightly later than normal due to a later start to the regular season this year). When those dates are announced, we'll have them for you here as well. But for now, we have some dates for the Colts' notable offseason dates, and while fans won't be able to watch the new team on the field, the Colts at least return to the field in some fashion in just a few weeks.
