According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, South Carolina running back Mike Davis will visit the Colts and the Patriots this week.

We're just over three weeks away from the start of the NFL Draft, and all 32 teams are currently busy working out and visiting with prospects.  The Colts have already been linked to several players, and this afternoon NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported another one: South Carolina running back Mike Davis.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Draft tidbits: So. Car. RB Mike Davis visits <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Colts?src=hash">#Colts</a> &amp; <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Patriots?src=hash">#Patriots</a> this week. Miami LB Denzel Perryman had a private workout with <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Patriots?src=hash">#Patriots</a></p>&mdash; Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/585475414665125888">April 7, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Davis, a 5-9, 216 pound back, rushed for 2,440 yards and 22 touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry over his three seasons with South Carolina.  In addition, he caught 70 passes for 755 yards and two scores.  He'll likely be a mid-round pick and could be a very good value pick there for a team.

The Colts will be looking for a running back in the draft to complement their backfield, as they have Frank Gore as the starter, along with Boom Herron and Zurlon Tipton in a depth role.  They will likely target a rookie in the draft to develop behind Gore, however, and therefore a guy like Mike Davis could be a very intriguing name.  ESPN's Mike Wells reports that "the Colts are big fans of the depth at running back in the draft," and Davis could be one of those backs that they like as a mid-round pick.

It appears that hthe Colts at least have some interest in South Carolina's Mike Davis, as they're having him in for a visit this week, and it shouldn't be a surprise at all if they target a running back at some point in the Draft this year.
