Believe it or not, the 2015 offseason is almost over. Well, that's not entirely true, but for the Indianapolis Colts it's pretty close. The team will conclude their eight-week offseason workout program this week by holding a mandatory mini-camp for all players on June 9-11.
The mini-camp will be the last time that the players are together until they report to Anderson University for training camp on August 1, as after this week the players will go their separate ways until camp begins. The offseason program has been divided into a number of parts, beginning with just weight room work and conditioning, then moving into position drills, and then moving into OTAs in which team drills, such as 7-on-7 and 11-on-11, took place. Also in the midst of the offseason work was a rookie mini-camp for many of the team's rookie additions. This week, the team will hold a mini-camp for all players, and unlike the rest of the offseason work (which are voluntary), this is mandatory and is the last chance the coaches have to install anything or work on anything until training camp over a month later.
This week's mini-camp will be highlighted by an open practice on Wednesday for fans at Lucas Oil Stadium. The doors will open at 2:00 p.m. ET and there will be events and activities for Colts fans to do, followed by the team's practice at 5:30 p.m. (and also note that the NFL bag policy is in effect for this event). This will be your first chance to get a look at the 2015 Colts, and while it likely won't be overly exciting (after all, it is just a practice), it will be the last chance to see them until they get to Anderson and is typically a fun event for fans.
So as crazy as it is to believe, the Colts are wrapping up their offseason program this week with their mini-camp before heading their separate ways until training camp. As always, keep it here at Stampede Blue for the latest out of Indianapolis this week - likely the last full week of actual Colts news and notes until the beginning of August.
