Indianapolis Colts release first depth chart in advance of 2015 preseason opener

The Indianapolis Colts have just three more days of training camp before they will open the 2015 preseason this Sunday in Philadelphia against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m.  In advance of that first preseason game, the team has released their first depth chart of the year.

Here's the depth chart (rookies are in italics), with a few notes to follow:

A few notes...

• There really aren't any surprises on this depth chart, at least for those of you who have been following along with the training camp coverage.  This is pretty much what we expected and is very similar to the one I would have made from just watching camp.  So not many surprises before the first preseason game.
• It is interesting to note that Amarlo Herrera is the fourth inside linebacker, but he has been getting a lot of reps in training camp and so even that isn't a surprise.  Let's be clear, though, that the fourth inside linebacker spot is up for grabs in the preseason (keep an eye on Henoc Muamba).
• And that's probably the biggest thing I can emphasize from this depth chart: it will change.  This is the depth chart they've released before they've even played one game, so things will likely change quite a bit over the next month.  Players will be competing for spots at a number of positions.
• Also, your Colts' returners?  Right now, it's Phillip Dorsett at punt returner and Boom Herron at kick returner.  This isn't a surprise, but it's worth noting since that's an area that has been hard to tell through camp (though, I must add, even this was expected).
