The Indianapolis Colts are 1-2 on the season, and despite playing just three games, they are pretty beat up.  Of course, the most notable injury is to quarterback Andrew Luck, as he was limited in practice on Wednesday with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

Luck isn't the only notable player injured, however.  At practice today, seven starters (and two borderline starters) were either out or limited, while eleven players total appeared on the injury report.  Of course, a couple of those are due to a rest day, but either way, it's not a great look for a team that will be getting ready to play two games in five days (they host the Jaguars on Sunday and then travel to face the Texans on Thursday Night Football).

Here's today's complete practice report, followed by some notes:

Did Not Practice:

Dwayne Allen, TE (ankle)

Trent Cole, OLB (knee)

Tyler Varga, RB (concussion)

Vontae Davis, CB (rest)

Andre Johnson, WR (rest)

Robert Mathis, OLB (rest)

Limited Practice:

Darius Butler, CB (hip)

Andrew Luck, QB (right shoulder)

Josh Robinson, RB (back)

Hugh Thornton, G (knee)

Greg Toler, CB (neck)

The good news here is that Vontae Davis, Andre Johnson, and Robert Mathis were simply out for a veteran's rest day and not because of any injury.  Furthermore, it appears as if Darius Butler and Greg Toler are both trending in the right direction, as they were both limited participants in practice today.  Toler was also limited in practice each day last week but only in a non-contact role, and it's clear that his role is still limited.  Butler hadn't practiced since the injury in week one but returned today, which is a positive sign.  The Colts had been hopeful that Butler would return this Sunday against the Jaguars, so it will be something to keep an eye on.  It appears he's trending well, but will it be enough for him to play?  That remains unknown.

Two other players who missed last Sunday's game didn't practice today.  Tight end Dwayne Allen suffered an ankle injury during the team's week two game and didn't practice at all last week.  Hopefully, he can get the injury taken care of (even if that means missing an extra game or two) and not have it linger throughout the season, which is what happened with his injury last year.  Outside linebacker Trent Cole was injured in practice last week and was officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game, but he didn't travel with the team and was out.
