Notes

  • The Colts only keep 5 receivers and let Duron Carter go. Carter has not had a productive preseason, and although he'd be a great player for the practice squad (where he could definitely end up), I feel a team in need of a WR will scoop him before the Colts can place him on the practice squad.
  • Fan favorite Vick Ballard is cut. His injury is still affecting him and the Colts have good depth at running back and are able to replace him. It's sad to see him go, but his departure is becoming a reality.
  • Montori Hughes is cut. He has done nothing great, and David Parry has outplayed him all preseason. Parry is the new backup nose tackle and could end up becoming a starter before you know it.
  • Some project Lance Louis to start over Hugh Thornton, but I thought Thornton had the better preseason, so I'd start Thornton over Louis.
  • Sio Moore is an interesting case. He'll make the roster, but the Colts could (and should) place him on the PUP list and keep Cam Johnson or another roster bubble guy for the first 6 weeks. During those 6 weeks, Moore will have a chance to recover from his hip surgery (which has been bothering him throughout the Raiders training camp), and he can also learn the system.
  • The Arthur Jones injury forces Zach Kerr into a starting role. I have a feeling Henry Anderson starts getting a lot of action at that right defensive end spot.
  • There are 25 players on offense, 25 players on defense and 3 special team players.
