The Indianapolis Colts returned to the practice field today to continue preparations for their big game this Sunday against the Houston Texans, but they were once again shorthanded - though not nearly as much as yesterday.
The Colts were without five players at practice today, and all of them missed Wednesday’s practice too - meaning that the status of all five players is very much uncertain for Sunday.
Here’s the full practice report for the Colts today:
Did Not Practice:
Quan Bray, WR (shin)
Darius Butler, CB (hand)
Zach Kerr, NT (ankle)
Donte Moncrief, WR (shoulder)
Patrick Robinson, CB (knee and hip)
Limited Participation:
T.Y. Hilton, WR (hip)
Andrew Luck, QB (right shoulder)
Full Participation:
Josh McNary, LB (shoulder)
Robert Turbin, RB (shoulder and wrist)
Mike Adams, S (rest Wednesday)
Vontae Davis, CB (rest Wednesday)
Frank Gore, RB (rest Wednesday)
Kendall Langford, DE (rest Wednesday)
Robert Mathis, OLB (rest Wednesday)
Of the guys who didn’t practice, we knew that Zach Kerr and Donte Moncrief are both week-to-week already, so those aren’t surprising. The other moves are more worth noticing, however, as cornerbacks Darius Butler and Patrick Robinson both missed a second straight day of work. They are both described as day-to-day, but that doesn’t mean that they will play on Sunday. Especially since the Colts promoted Frankie Williams from the practice squad today, there’s probably legitimate doubt about the status of one or both of the corners who missed practice today. Also worth noting is that Quan Bray missed his second straight day of practice today, so his status for the game is also uncertain. If he can’t go, the Colts would be down their return man but also their fourth receiver, meaning that Devin Street might actually be active and could receive a few snaps.
The only other thing really worth mentioning from today’s injury report is that Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton were both limited. Luck was limited with the same shoulder that’s been limiting him in practice all season, so it’s no reason for concern as the Colts try to simply manage that injury. And as for Hilton, he missed practice yesterday with the hip injury, so even though he was limited today he’s still trending in the right direction and it’s fully expected that both Luck and Hilton will be good to go on Sunday.
