Colts Thursday injury report: Ten players miss practice

NFL: International Series-Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

As the Indianapolis Colts are preparing for their game against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday and as they are looking for their first division win of the season, they’re having to deal with a number of injury situations.

Yesterday we saw 14 players miss practice entirely for the Colts, and it wasn’t much better today as ten guys sat out - and only one of them was due to rest.

Here’s a look at the full participation report for today:

Did Not Practice:

Dwayne Allen, TE (ankle)

Henry Anderson, DT (knee)

Darius Butler, CB (calf and hamstring)

Phillip Dorsett, WR (foot and hamstring)

T.Y. Hilton, WR (hip)

Zach Kerr, NT (ankle)

Curt Maggitt, OLB (ankle)

Jack Mewhort, T/G (tricep)

Donte Moncrief, WR (shoulder)

D’Qwell Jackson, ILB (rest)

Limited Participation:

Jonotthan Harrison, C (illness)

Andrew Luck, QB (ankle and right shoulder)

Full Participation:

T.J. Green, S (knee)

Patrick Robinson, CB (hip)

Mike Adams, S (rest Wednesday)

Vontae Davis, CB (rest Wednesday)

Frank Gore, RB (rest Wednesday)

Kendall Langford, DE (rest Wednesday)

Robert Mathis, OLB (rest Wednesday)

When a player doesn’t practice on either Wednesday or Thursday in a given week, his game status is obviously in doubt - and this week the Colts have several such situations. Dwayne Allen, Henry Anderson, Darius Butler, Phillip Dorsett, Zach Kerr, Curt Maggitt, Jack Mewhort, and Donte Moncrief all missed practice today for the second straight day, which is clearly concerning. We know that some of them - like Allen, Anderson, Kerr, Maggitt, and Moncrief - have been listed as week-to-week, so it shouldn’t be surprising to see all of them miss Sunday’s game. The only one it seemed like had a chance of playing was Kerr, who Chuck Pagano said might get some individual work on Wednesday, but he hasn’t practiced yet this week so it appears it may be another week before he returns.

The injury to Jack Mewhort is one of particular interest because we hadn’t heard of it until he missed practice yesterday, and he was out once again today. So we don’t know any details other than that it’s a tricep injury, so we don’t know much about his status for Sunday - other than the fact that he’s missed two days of practice puts it in doubt. As for T.Y. Hilton, who was limited yesterday and missed today, he’s been dealing with some things this year and has missed practice time before, so it should definitely be expected that he will play unless we hear otherwise.
