The Indianapolis Colts returned to the practice field today and continued preparations for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs coming up this Sunday, but the participation report wasn’t quite as encouraging as it was yesterday.
Eight players missed practice today, and seven of them were for injury reasons - including a few players who returned to practice yesterday. Here’s the full injury report for Thursday:
Did Not Practice:
Dwayne Allen, TE (ankle)
Henry Anderson, DT (knee)
T.Y. Hilton, WR (hip)
Kendall Langford, DE (knee)
Curt Maggitt, OLB (ankle)
Jack Mewhort, G (tricep)
Chester Rogers, WR (hamstring and foot)
D’Qwell Jackson, ILB (rest)
Limited Participation:
Mike Adams, S (shin)
Andrew Luck, QB (right shoulder and ankle)
Donte Moncrief, WR (shoulder)
Full Participation:
Phillip Dorsett, WR (hamstring)
Zach Kerr, NT (ankle)
Joe Reitz, T (back)
Vontae Davis, CB (rest Wednesday)
Frank Gore, RB (rest Wednesday)
Robert Mathis, OLB (rest Wednesday)
For the second straight day, Dwayne Allen, Curt Maggitt, Kendall Langford, and Chester Rogers missed practice entirely. We know that Allen and Maggitt are week-to-week and therefore were always unlikely to play, but the fact that Langford and Rogers have now missed two days in a row also calls their availability for Sunday’s game into doubt. Keep in mind that Langford has played in 135 straight games to begin his NFL career, but his status for Sunday is a question mark.
Further complicating matters is the fact that a few guys who returned to practice yesterday in a limited role were out today: Henry Anderson and Jack Mewhort. Those are two key players, and it’s unknown whether this was the plan all along with them or whether they didn’t respond right to getting back on the field. Either way, though, it makes their availability for Sunday’s game even more uncertain.
With both Langford and Anderson question marks for Sunday, it’s big that Zach Kerr was a full participant in practice today after returning to the field yesterday in a limited role. He has had a very good season but has missed some time recently with an ankle injury, but it sounds like he’s getting better. Joe Reitz and Phillip Dorsett were also full participants today after being limited yesterday, while Donte Moncrief was limited for the second straight day.
