We are now officially at the quarter pole of the 2016 NFL season for the Indianapolis Colts, and it's safe to say that things haven't gone like the team or their fans had hoped.
The Colts are just 1-3, and the lone win came in comeback fashion against the San Diego Chargers. On the one hand, the Colts have actually been in every game with a chance to win it at the end. But on the other hand, the Colts have looked sloppy and their play has been ugly for much of that time, and they've been unable to finish games.
Here's a quick reminder of how the past four games have turned out (with each team's current record in parenthesis):
Week 1: Lost 35-39 to Detroit Lions (1-3)
Week 2: Lost 20-34 at Denver Broncos (4-0)
Week 3: Won 26-22 over San Diego Chargers (1-3)
Week 4: Lost 27-30 at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3)
So at the quarter mark of the season, the Colts have played three teams that are 1-3 on this season, and for two of them their only victory was against the Colts. Indianapolis is just 1-3, and they are in last place in the worst division in football. In other words, that's not good.
Something that other sites have done in the past is an approval rating for the head coach, but we haven't really done that for Chuck Pagano. After Jim Irsay made the stunning decision to reward him with a contract extension in January, however, it gave new life to the Pagano-led Colts. But was it the right decision? And is Pagano doing a good job as the coach of the Colts?
I have a pretty good idea of what Colts fans think about that, but let's put it to a vote. At every quarter mark of the season (after the team's fourth, eighth, twelfth, and sixteenth game, plus after the postseason if they make it), we'll put up a poll here for you to vote on whether you approve or disapprove of the job Pagano is doing as head coach. Pretty simple, but it will be a way for us to somewhat be able to quantify how much fans approve of Pagano as the season goes on and as the years go on. So have at it, and vote whether you approve or disapprove of the job Chuck Pagano is doing as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts right now!
