On Tuesday, the NFLPA tweeted out a video announcing that tight end Dwayne Allen, linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, cornerback Darius Butler, and quarterback Andrew Luck have been voted by their teammates to be the player reps for the Indianapolis Colts.

The players spoke in the video about how they’re honored to be chosen as player reps, and Andrew Luck even mentioned that his dad, Oliver, was an NFLPA rep back in the day as well so he’s excited to continue that tradition. “[I’m] Andrew Luck, and I’m very honored to be a part of this,” he said. “Being a part of a team is a wonderful, wonderful thing. [I have] a lot of respect for what the NFLPA has done over many, many years. I know my dad was part of the PA when he played, so honored to carry it on.”
It’s a cool honor for these guys to be chosen by their teammates to represent the Colts to the NFLPA, and it’s a job that perhaps not many realize exists but that is a cool responsibility. The players are liaisons of sorts between their team and the NFLPA, which they take on in addition to their normal responsibilities on the field.
