Colts Thursday Injury Report: Four players miss practice

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Today’s practice session for the Indianapolis Colts was actually their third of the week already, but with them playing on Monday night today was the first day the team had to release an official injury report.

Only four players missed practice today, but they were some significant players: T.Y. Hilton, Robert Mathis, Patrick Robinson, and Hassan Ridgeway. Hilton and Mathis are dealing with injuries from last Thursday’s game, and while it does sound like there’s optimism about Hilton playing on Monday night, Mathis’s status sounds more uncertain. With Robinson, he missed practice last week with a groin injury, played in the game, and then now has missed time this week with the groin injury as well. So it will be interesting to see whether he’s once again able to go or whether the Colts opt to keep him out to try to let him heal completely. And then Hassan Ridgeway was a new addition to the injury report today, as he’s dealing with a back injury.

Cornerbacks Vontae Davis and Christopher Milton were limited today, as was quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck missed last Thursday night’s game with a concussion, but he’s fully expected to play on Monday - with the Colts’ waiving of Stephen Morris this afternoon being the latest sign of that. He’s listed on the injury report with a right shoulder and a concussion, so it’s likely that him being limited today was simply for the same thing that has limited him at times in practice all year as the team is cautious with his shoulder. And as for Davis, he was limited with a groin injury but seems to be trending in the right direction, so there’s some optimism about his status for this week as well.

The players who practiced in full today are equally of note, as Clayton Geathers, Denzelle Good, and Ryan Kelly all worked with no limitations. That’s really good news for all three of them, as it means that the Colts should likely get two starting offensive linemen and a starting safety “back” for Monday night’s game.
