The 2016 NFL Scouting Combine gets underway today, as the first group of players begins to arrive in Indianapolis. We'll have plenty of coverage up all week about the Combine, but one of the most relevant aspects of Combine week from our perspective (following the Colts) is that it will be the first time in quite a while that Colts head coach Chuck Pagano and general manager Ryan Grigson will speak. Both of them are scheduled to meet the media on Thursday this week in Indianapolis.
Chuck Pagano is scheduled to speak at 1:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 25, while Ryan Grigson is scheduled to speak at 2:00 p.m. ET on the same day. The full schedule of coach and general manager press conferences can be found below, and we'll keep you updated on where you can tune in to listen to them.
Neither Pagano nor Grigson have spoken publicly in a press conference setting since the evening of January 4, when it was announced that both were being given contract extensions. The nature of that presser was almost solely related to the extensions (and rightly so, since it was a complete shock), but it also means that neither gave an end-of-season press conference like is customary. Chuck Pagano certainly wasn't asked about plans moving forward after the final game, since everyone expected him to be fired, while Ryan Grigson continually declines to speak publicly. That means that we really haven't heard the opinions of either men about what their offseason goals are and how they will go about improving the team.
That's why their press conferences this week will generate attention among Colts fans, as it will be the first time in close to two months that they hold a press conference and it will be the first chance to really hear their thoughts on the offseason. Now, that doesn't mean they'll say much or give away much important information about their plans, but it will still be a chance to hear them.
