Free agency is officially underway, and that means that the Colts' unsigned free agents are now on the open market after their contracts with the Colts expired at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. One such player is tight end Coby Fleener, who is reportedly a target for the New Orleans Saints.
According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Saints now have their sights set on Fleener:
Deal between TE Ladarius Green and the Steelers remains imminent. Saints were looking at him as well. Coby Fleener in their sights now

We've already seen some of the top tight ends on the market agree to deals, such as Dwayne Allen with the Colts, Antonio Gates with the Chargers, and LaDarius Green with the Steelers, so Fleener could be receiving increased interest shortly. The Saints would be a very interesting fit for him, as it would give him the chance to play in Sean Payton's offense with Drew Brees at quarterback - something that would surely help a receiving tight end like Fleener.
Fleener has been a good receiving threat for the Colts over the past four years since being drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has played in 60 games and hasn't missed a game since his rookie year, catching 183 passes for 2,154 yards and 17 touchdowns while averaging 11.8 yards per catch. He has been one of the team's better receivers in each of the past few years, and while he does have his limitations - such as blocking and making plays after the catch - he could help a team in the passing game. That's why he is such an intriguing fit with the Saints, as their passing offense with Brees and Payton is routinely among the league's best.
