For most fans, the first look at the 2016 Indianapolis Colts will come when they take the field in the preseason for the Hall of Fame game against the Green Bay Packers. For others, they may be able to make the trek to Anderson University for training camp, but there's an opportunity even earlier than that to catch the Colts on the field.
As they have done in years past, the Colts will make one mini-camp practice open to the public this summer. Their mandatory mini-camp is for all players and is the last phase of organized team activities (which begin in just a few days). After the three-day mini-camp, players will go their separate ways until training camp begins. This year, the Colts will hold their mini-camp on June 7-9, and on Wednesday, June 8, fans will get the chance to watch.
The Colts will practice at Lucas Oil Stadium on June 8 at 5:30 p.m. and the event will be free and open to fans. Admission is free and seating is general admission, but you still need a ticket for entrance - you can check the details on how to obtain those here. The doors will open at 2:00 p.m. and fans will be able to enjoy activities on the field and discounted concessions, give-aways, autographs and photos with Colts cheerleaders, and more. Then at 5:30, the team will take the field and conduct a practice, and then at 8:00 p.m. the Lego Movie will be shown on the jumbotrons in the stadium. All bags will be searched prior to entry and no backpacks are permitted, but fans are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on while on the field watching the movie.
Obviously, many people won't be able to make it to the mini-camp practice, but it's a cool opportunity for fans to get a first look at the 2016 Indianapolis Colts and it's sure to be a day filled with fun festivities.
