A huge trade in the NFL has gone down this morning, as the Tennessee Titans have traded the number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams get the Titans' top overall pick, fourth round pick (117 overall), and sixth round pick (177 overall), while the Titans get a huge haul: the Rams' first round pick this year (15th overall), two second round picks this year (43 and 45 overall), a third round pick this year (76 overall), a 2017 first round pick, and a 2017 third round pick.  Again, that's a massive trade.

For the Titans, who are in a rebuilding mode as they try to build around quarterback Marcus Mariota, could really use the extra picks, and now they will have a lot to work with in this year's draft (and next year as well).  That's huge for Tennessee as they try to add plenty of talent to their roster, and it should help their efforts to improve and contend in the AFC South sooner rather than later.  Of course, that means they must hit on the picks they now have, but they have a lot to work with.  On the surface, this appears to be a tremendous trade for the Titans.

It is likely that the Rams wanted to move up for a quarterback, though its unclear which player they are targeting.  It's likely either Carson Wentz or Jared Goff, but the bottom line is that Los Angeles must have seen something they really like to jump the Browns for such a big price.  If there's a player they truly believe could be a franchise quarterback then the move makes sense, but that's no sure thing in this year's draft and with this year's group of quarterbacks.  Either way, the Colts' AFC South rival Tennessee Titans got a big haul for the top overall pick and will have a lot to work with as they rebuild and try to catch the Colts, Texans, and Jaguars to compete in the division.
