Recently, SiriusXM NFL Radio conducted a poll on twitter asking who the most hated person in the NFL is. On the list were Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, and... Falcons tight end Jacob Tamme?
That's right, Tamme - considered one of the true nice guys in football - was included as one of the options to vote for. While the inclusion of the first three names are understandable and expected, the inclusion of Tamme is bizarre. The tight end had some fun with it and was good-natured about it, however, and a Twitter movement was started - in large part by The Falcoholic's Jeanna Thomas - to vote Tamme as the "winner" and to have fun with the poll. And in the end, he "won."

What was unclear all along, however, was how Jacob Tamme's name even got into the discussion and was even put in the poll in the first place. He's a nice, likable guy, so why was he included? It turns out it stems from his time with the Indianapolis Colts, Alex Marvez explained.
Yes, @JacobTamme. Someone called & said they hated the fact he would catch Dallas Clark's TD passes when DC was hurt https://t.co/WL2zxke4Y1

While that's terrible reasoning to put a guy in a poll (because a caller didn't like him for a silly reason), it seems that Tamme was included just for the heck of it. Then Tamme and Twitter took it from there, and in the end he "won." All because he stole Dallas Clark's touchdown receptions with the Colts.
Tamme was drafted by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons in Indianapolis, catching passes from Peyton Manning for most of that time. He played in 60 games with the Colts (starting 14) and recorded 92 receptions for 855 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 9.3 yards per catch. His best season came in 2010, when he started eight games and caught 67 passes for 631 yards and four scores, averaging 9.4 yards per reception. In that season, Dallas Clark played in just six games due to injury.
That's likely where the one caller's complaint came from. Clark was a tremendous receiving threat for the Colts and Manning when healthy, and he was never better than in 2009. Tamme was always the backup to Clark, but when Clark was injured, Tamme was the one stepping in. As he did, he put up nice production and even caught several scores, which apparantly angered some Colts fans. I have to imagine that getting upset at someone for playing well while filling in due to injury has to be only a joke, but either way, that's what got Tamme included on the most hated list in the first place, which led to him winning... all because he stole some of Dallas Clark's targets while with the Colts.
