Yesterday, the Indianapolis Colts rookies were receiving a lesson in etiquette from director of player engagement David Thornton as part of the NFL’s new Rookie Transition Program.
The Program includes plenty of important areas, including an introduction to the NFL, an introduction to the NFLPA, an introduction to the Colts franchise, and a number of lessons about how to manage the responsibilities, pressures, and privileges of being a professional athlete. While the previous Rookie Symposium included only draft picks, the new Rookie Transition Program includes all rookies.
It’s not all work for the Colts rookies at this time of year, however, as today they took a trip to visit the Indianapolis Zoo.

It’s cool to see the Colts rookies having fun together and hanging out, as that hopefully will build team chemistry. It’s not the first time the rookies have taken a day trip together to see a part of Indianapolis, as earlier this year they made the trip to Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the Indy 500 to take in the sights. It’s cool to see them getting to know and see parts of Indianapolis and hang out together.
