The most important thing in the preseason is just staying healthy, but in the first half of tonight’s preseason opener for the Colts there were a few injuries worth noting. Starting right guard Denzelle Good left with a knee injury, starting inside linebacker Sio Moore left with a hamstring injury, and backup tackle Kevin Graf left with an ankle/foot injury.
It’s important to note that just because those three players won’t return tonight doesn’t automatically mean the injury is serious, as in a preseason game injured players almost never return. So we can’t really tell much from the fact that they won’t return, but the injuries are still significant.
It’s unclear what happened with Good, but Moore was injured on a special teams return. He was in some pain, and after walking off the field he eventually headed to the locker room. According to the Indianapolis Star’s Stephen Holder, Moore was “limping something serious” as he went back to the locker room, which obviously isn’t a good sign. He got the start tonight and is expected to see a lot of time at inside linebacker this year, along with D’Qwell Jackson and Nate Irving.
Kevin Graf was injured later in the first half when he had his leg rolled up on from behind. He was down in some pain on the field before then walking off gingerly. He has a left ankle/foot injury and was carted to the locker room.
