Donte Moncrief on injury: “I should be ok soon”

Colts wide receiver Donte Moncrief suffered a head/neck injury in the first half of today’s game against the Denver Broncos and he didn’t return to the contest, which is obviously a situation to pay attention to.

Moncrief tweeted tonight, however, that he “should be ok soon.”

Of course, Moncrief’s update does leave us without much information on the extent of his injury or the timeframe for recovery, but it’s a positive sign that it’s not considered serious. He also returned to the sideline and was seen interacting with teammates, which was another sign that it may not be a serious thing.

We hopefully will get a better update on Moncrief’s status tomorrow, but it’s certainly a big situation and the Colts need to get Moncrief back as quickly as possible. He had six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown in week one, and today had one catch for nine yards before he was injured. The big concern for the Colts, however, is about the depth at the position without him. The team has a very talented trio of wideouts at the top of the depth chart in T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief, and Phillip Dorsett, but after that they really don’t have any proven depth. Chester Rogers and Quan Bray are the only other receivers on the roster, and Bray is really only on the team as a return man. So without Moncrief the Colts are very thin at the position, making it even more important to get them back as soon as possible. Hopefully for Indianapolis, Moncrief’s tweet truly means he should be back soon.
