The big news as it pertains to the Indianapolis Colts and other NFL teams today is the final roster cutdown to 53 players, but there are bigger stories going on in the sports world: namely, the return of college football.
It’s a loaded slate of games for the opening weekend, and I’ll certainly be watching as much as I can while I monitor the Colts’ cuts. NFL teams will be as well, and the Colts will actually be scouting a couple of the biggest games this weekend.
NFL Media’s Chase Goodbread tweeted that there are 15 NFL teams in attendance at this afternoon’s contest between number three Oklahoma and number 15 Houston, including the Colts. Goodbread also wrote that the Colts will be one of 15 teams in attendance at tonight’s game between number two Clemson and Auburn.
With it being week one teams are likely still trying to get a good idea of who they want to watch further, so it makes sense to scout some of the top teams this weekend. The Colts this offseason took a different approach in preparing for the future by adding young talent to develop, and that likely will continue next year as well. With plenty of veterans on the defensive side of the ball in particular, the Colts would be wise to add young talent there - particularly pass rushers.
Are there any players from Oklahoma, Houston, Clemson, or Auburn that you’d be excited to see the Colts target in next year’s NFL Draft?
