It’s one of the best weekends of the NFL season, as there are four divisional round games that will be taking place over the next two days. That gets started today with two matchups, one in the NFC and one in the AFC. Here’s the day’s schedule of games:
Seattle Seahawks (10-5-1) at Atlanta Falcons (11-5) - 4:35 p.m. ET, FOX
This should be a very good game, as the Seahawks are fresh off of their win over the Lions last week and are facing the best offense in football in the Atlanta Falcons, who had a first round bye last week. Atlanta’s Matt Ryan is the likely MVP and he’s got plenty of weapons at his disposal, while Seattle’s Russell Wilson is also a very good quarterback and Seattle has a strong defense to add to that. This will likely be a good game with quite a few points, and I’ll take the Falcons in it.
Houston Texans (9-7) at New England Patriots (14-2) - 8:15 p.m. ET, CBS
Well, at least the first game of the day should be an exciting one. In all seriousness, the Texans are massive underdogs, and rightfully so. For any team to go into Foxborough in January and beat Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the Patriots is an incredibly great task, and the Texans aren’t exactly a great team. Their only hope in this one likely will be their front seven disrupting Brady so much that New England’s offense is thrown off, but I don’t see that happening - at least not enough for Brock Osweiler and the offense to be able to outscore Brady and his offense - so I’ll take the Patriots.
Whatever happens in today’s games, here’s an open thread for you to discuss the two matchups.
