Colts have completed interviews with Chris Ballard and George Paton for GM opening

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

As their general manager search gets underway, the Indianapolis Colts announced this morning that they have completed interviews with Chris Ballard and George Paton for their general manager opening.

That means two of the six interviews have been completed, with the others likely coming soon. The other four candidates for the job include Trent Kirchner, Scott Fitterer, Eliot Wolf, and Jimmy Raye III. It sounds like many of those interviews are supposed to take place today, according to recent reports.

Chris Ballard is the director of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs and is very well-respected and was thought to be on the radar of many teams as a potential GM at some point. George Paton is the assistant general manager for the Minnesota Vikings and is also a respected personnel guy, as he’s reportedly the frontrunner for the GM opening with the San Francisco 49ers.

With the Senior Bowl taking place this week, it makes it a bit easier for Jim Irsay in getting these interviews completed in a timely manner. Most of the NFL scouting and personnel world is in Mobile this week, so while Jimmy Raye and Chuck Pagano are leading the Colts’ efforts at the Senior Bowl, Jim Irsay is conducting interviews with potential GMs. He’s put together a very good list of candidates and has already gotten two of the interviews completed with the other four surely coming soon.
