On Sunday, Tennessee Titans insider Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reported that QB Marcus Mariota would be under center tonight against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reiterated this today.
This is big news for Mariota’s fantasy owners who stuck it out all weekend despite conflicting reports on his status throughout the week. Mariota missed much of the last two games with a hamstring injury.
The Colts are surrendering the second-most fantasy points per game (21.98) to the QB position, according to Yahoo! Fantasy. On the flip side, many owners may have picked up Colts QB Jacoby Brissett as insurance. He also has a great matchup, as the Titans give up the third-most FPPG (21.24) to QB’s.
Drafted as a top-10 QB in most leagues and formats this summer, Mariota hasn’t gotten off to the start that many hoped he would. Tonight is a good week for him to breakout, however. Although it makes sense that Mariota may not do much on the ground, the Colts have given up big games to strict pocket passers all year. Jared Goff, Carson Palmer and Brian Hoyer all threw for at least 300 yards against the Colts, yet combined for a total of 8 rushing yards.
