On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts elevated offensive tackle Tyreek Burwell to the active roster from the practice squad. The move puts starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo’s status for this Sunday against the Houston Texans in question, as he has yet to practice this week due to a knee ailment.
Burwell (6-6, 310, 25) wouldn’t be replacing Castonzo if he is unable to play, but he would provide depth on the line. The Colts would likely look to either Joe Haeg or Le’Raven Clark to start at left tackle. If Castonzo doesn’t play on Sunday, it would spur a large shake-up along the line, as Vujnovich has been starting at left guard, and Clark at right guard.
Castonzo still could play this Sunday if he returns to practice in some capacity. However, if he fails to appear at practice all week, the chances are very slim.
Burwell is in his third season out of Cincinnati. He has made 16 career appearances for the then-San Diego Chargers.
