Colts free agency 2017: Which players do Colts fans want the team to re-sign?

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been taking a look at each of the Colts’ upcoming free agents and discussing whether or not the team should bring them back. Free agency will begin in just over a week, with the new league year beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET on March 9, and the Colts have yet to make any re-signings.

The Colts have nine players set to become unrestricted free agents, three set to become restricted free agents, and two set to become exclusive rights free agents.

At the end of each article about the free agents, we attached a poll allowing our readers to vote on whether or not the team should bring back the player. Now, having wrapped up the series, we’ve compiled the results of those polls together to give a better idea of the players that Colts fans want them to bring back.

Below you’ll find the results of those polls and whether or not fans want those players back, as well as the total number of votes in each poll and a link to that article. Sure, this is far from a comprehensive overview of what all Colts fans everywhere are thinking, but this is a pretty good representation of what our readers are thinking - and if you ask me, this list is about what should be expected.

Unrestricted Free Agents:

Jack Doyle, TE: 94% YES (1,805 total votes)

Darius Butler, DB: 94% YES (1,770 total votes)

Robert Turbin, RB: 93% YES (1,015 total votes)

Jordan Todman, RB: 74% YES (672 total votes)

Mike Adams, S: 58% YES (1,442 total votes)

Erik Walden, OLB: 53% YES (1,131 total votes)

Chris Carter, OLB: 73% NO (796 total votes)

Hugh Thornton, OL: 86% NO (1,214 total votes)

Trent Cole, OLB: 96% NO (1,238 total votes)

Restricted Free Agents:

Zach Kerr, DL: 95% YES (947 total votes)

Jonotthan Harrison, OL: 80% YES (766 total votes)

Josh McNary, LB: 79% NO (988 total votes)

Exclusive Rights Free Agents:

Erik Swoope, TE: 97% YES (1,385 total votes)

Quan Bray, WR: 73% YES (547 total votes)

So here’s the takeaway from that: according to these polls, Colts fans overwhelmingly would like the team to bring back Jack Doyle, Darius Butler, Robert Turbin, Erik Swoope (ERFA), and Zach Kerr (RFA), while there’s also a pretty good consensus on bringing back Jordan Todman, Jonotthan Harrison (RFA), and Quan Bray (ERFA). Things are more split when it comes to Mike Adams and Erik Walden, as though the votes are in favor of bringing him back it’s far from a consensus. And to cap it off, fans don’t want to team to bring back Trent Cole, Hugh Thornton, Chris Carter, or Josh McNary.

I think the results of these polls are pretty much what should have been expected, as there aren’t really any surprises. I think suggesting that Doyle, Butler, Turbin, and Todman are the top four UFAs the Colts should bring back will be well-received, as well as bringing back ERFAs Erik Swoope and Quan Bray and RFAs Zach Kerr and Jonotthan Harrison. there are some other interesting decisions too, like Erik Walden and Mike ADams, but they’re far from sure things.

What are your thoughts on how the results turned out?
