Morocco Brown reportedly joining Colts’ front office

Colts general manager Chris Ballard is working fast to add people to his personnel and scouting staffs, and we’ve now heard of another name that he’ll be adding.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Morocco Brown is expected to join the Colts’ front office as well. The MMQB’s Albert Breer reports that Brown will be the Colts’ college director.

Brown was most recently the VP of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns for two seasons (2014-2015) after spending six seasons as the Director of Player Personnel for the Washington Redskins (2008-2014). Before joining the Redskins, Brown spent seven seasons as the Assistant Director of Pro Personnel for the Chicago Bears (2001-2007), and he actually got his start in scouting with the Indianapolis Colts in 2000 as a scouting intern. He also served as an assistant scout for the Redskins in 2000 and 2001.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to see the Colts hire Morocco Brown, as this was another one of the moves that was speculated about. Brown and Chris Ballard spent several years together with the Bears, so there is obviously some familiarity there.

This move continues the additions to Ballard’s front office staff, as we’ve already heard reported that Ed Dodds and Rex Hogan are joining the team, reportedly as co-VPs of Player Personnel. The Colts also reportedly hired Brian Decker as their Player Personnel Strategist. It sounds like Brown will be replacing T.J. McCreight in the role of Director of College Scouting, and it does seem like the Colts are improving their front office with some good hires.
