It’s not uncommon for Frank Gore to work out on his own during the offseason, and after all, the offseason program is “voluntary” for players.
But since most players do show up for the practices and OTAs, it’s always a question that gets asked when a player isn’t around, like Frank Gore last week. He wasn’t seen at the Colts’ OTAs last week and he was in fact in Florida, but he’s back in Indy today working.
Last week, Chuck Pagano confirmed that Gore was working out on his own in Miami and that “he’s dealing with some family stuff,” but Pagano expected him back the following week. That is in fact what happened, so it sounds like the reason for Gore’s absence wasn’t about the “voluntary” part of OTAs but rather about some family things.
Gore is the last person anybody should be worried about, as he’s as dedicated and devoted as any player on the roster. He always stays in shape too and works incredibly hard at his craft, so any absence from OTAs isn’t really a concern. But still, it’s nice when one of the veterans and most notable members of the team is around during the offseason, so it’s good to see Frank Gore back to work with the Colts today during the practice that’s open to the media.
