Colts v Cowboys 2017 Preseason Week 2 Open Thread — Second Half

Leading into the game, we mentioned that rookie Marlon Mack getting his first NFL snaps is one of the biggest stories of the game for the Colts. He took his two carries for 23 yards, going for 13 and 10 yards on successive carries.

We also discussed that TJ Green would likely be given opportunities at cornerback for the first time in his career. He has show the athleticism to stick with his assignment but has made an error by grabbing the receivers face mask and being in great position but failing to turn his head and make the play on the ball — this should sound familiar as Quincy Wilson did the same last week.

Johnathan Hankins has been getting a lot of time on the defensive line and while the line did not look good on the first two drives on the whole, there we’ve noticed Woods and Anderson both bat down passes and Hankins got in on some tackles in the run game. This unit has a long way to go to be what Colts fans hope it can be but it should be mentioned that the Cowboys offensive line is also pretty decent -- as in the best in the league.

The pre-season MVP to this point, and the defensive MVP of this game, is John Simon. In two games Simon has intercepted a pass and forced a fumble. The defense has forced three total turnovers and he has played key roles in two of them. He has given early reasons to believe that he will play an important role for the Colts in 2017.

It’s not to be confused, the Colts have not look good for a second game in a row. They have an opportunity to even win the game. At the half the score is 10-10.
