The Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent safety Earl Wolff IV.
The 2015 fifth-round pick (5-11, 206, 27) was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles but hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2014 due to injury. The Colts are now his fourth team (Eagles 2013-’14, Jacksonville Jaguars 2015, Washington Redskins 2017).
Wolff has seen an enormous amount of trials throughout his football career, twice receiving micro-fracture surgery on his knee and even getting kidnapped early in 2016.
In 18 career games (7 starts), Wolff has 52 tackles (1 for loss), 1 interception and 6 pass breakups
The Colts have had a busy day of personnel moves so far today (Monday). First, they released punter Jeff Locke, who they signed this offseason. Then, they traded rookie long snapper Thomas Hennessy to the New York Jets in exchange for safety Ronald Martin.
The Colts are clearly trying to make any adjustment they can to the safety position at the moment.
Also at safety, the Colts have Darius Butler, Malik Hooker, Matthias Farley, T.J. Green, Tyvis Powell, Andrew Williamson, Lee Hightower, Tyson Graham Jr. and Martin.
