Colts fan and community favorite Matt Overton has been signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. One of the members of the 4th Down Army, Overton spent the last five seasons with the Colts and was more than just a stellar member of the special teams unit.
Overton was one of the more visible Colts in the Indianapolis community, giving back by making himself a bridge between the team and fans. From hanging out with kids at Riley Hospital to opening tailgating lots south of Lucas Oil Stadium, Overton was all about the fans. He supported local law enforcement, even going on ride-a-longs and talked about the possibility of a career in law enforcement after his football days are over.
While doing all of that, Overton still managed to snap the ball to two of the best kickers in the game with enough effectiveness to warrant a Pro Bowl appearance. He was a bit of an unsung hero, overshadowed by Pat McAfee’s “Boomstick” and Adam Vinatieri’s ice-cold clutch kicking.
By signing Overton, the Jaguars have certainly added a good player and a good guy to their squad.
