Ahead of their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano ruled out the following players at today’s media session:

  • QB Andrew Luck (shoulder)
  • C Ryan Kelly (foot)
  • ILB Antonio Morrison (elbow)
  • ILB Anthony Walker (hamstring)
  • CB Vontae Davis (groin)
  • S Darius Butler (hamstring)

In Luck’s absence, Jacoby Brissett is expected to get the starting nod, though Pagano refused to acknowledge the validity of the multiple reports.

Rookie Deyshawn Bond is expected to make his second career start this week in Kelly’s absence. Newcomer Ian Silberman, who was out last week, should be Bond’s backup.

The rotation of Jon Bostic, Jeremiah George and Sean Spence will play in place of Morrison and Walker. Those are the only three inside linebackers that the Colts have available. They had to sign Spence this week in preparation.

Rashaan Melvin will start in place of Davis, likely with T.J. Green moving into Melvin’s spot. Nate Hairston should be unaffected from his role in the nickel last week. Quincy Wilson’s participation level will be the big question mark. The second-round pick saw just 17 snaps last week even though Davis’ absence would have been a good opportunity for Wilson to see more.

Rookie first-round pick Malik Hooker will make his first career start in Butler’s place at free safety. Hooker was in for 30 snaps on defense last week and 18 on special teams. So, it looks like he should be good to go for the full ride on Sunday. He will start next to Matthias Farley.

Here is the Cardinals’ official injury report.
