The Indianapolis Colts have elevated inside linebacker Darnell Sankey from the practice squad and waived wide receiver Matt Hazel.
The Colts are very shorthanded at linebacker this week with both Antonio Morrison (elbow) and Anthony Walker Jr. (hamstring) out. They also had sign free agent linebacker Sean Spence this week, who spent the whole offseason with the team but was among the team’s preseason roster cuts.
Sankey (6-2, 250, 22) was signed by the Colts during the preseason and played in their final two preseason games. He had 11 tackles in the two contests.
The Colts have Jon Bostic, Jeremiah George, Spence and Sankey at inside linebacker against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Hazel played in the Colts’ season opener against the Los Angeles Rams last week and caught 1 pass for 1 yard.
At receiver, the Colts now have TY Hilton, Donte Moncrief, Chester Rogers (hamstring, questionable), Kamar Aiken and Quan Bray.
