According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will have their second head coaching interview tomorrow (Friday). Colts owner Jim Irsay will sit in with general manager Chris Ballard, so this basically sounds like the owner meeting his team’s new head coach.
Albert Breer of The MMQB confirmed the meeting and stated that it will be in Foxboro, Mass. and that the two sides will begin to get their ducks in a row (as much as they “legally” can).
Josh McDaniels will have his second interview with #Colts owner Jim Irsay and GM Chris Ballard tomorrow, sources say. Another chance for planning, etc.; deal can’t be finalized until after the Super Bowl.

This has already been reported as unofficially official for a couple of weeks now, as McDaniels can’t be named to a new position with another team until the Patriots’ season is over. Naturally, they play in the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 4.
The rumors have also leaked about some members of McDaniels’ coaching staff in Indianapolis. Former Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach/passing game coordinator Matt Eberflus is said to be the defensive coordinator, with former Oakland Raiders quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz as the offensive coordinator. The News-Gazette is also reporting that University of Illinois defensive line coach Mike Phair is leaving to fill the same position with the Colts.
Here’s a fun nugget about Phair:
Phair would have some crossover with Chris Ballard (Bears 2011-2012), Ed Dodds (Seahawks 2007-2010), and Rex Hogan (Bears 2011-2013).
