The Indianapolis Colts are off to the Meadowlands for their Week 6 matchup with the New York Jets. And today we’re going to get an inside look at what to expect on that front from Connor Rogers (B/R, Stick to Football).
The main issue, it seems, is the massive list of Colts who are hitting the injury report in the past few weeks. The Colts have now lost their starting guard Matt Slauson, and it appears that Braden Smith will be taking over in his absence. However, there are many other positions that look to be in serious trouble of getting their starters back.
T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle are still out, and the Andrew Luck-led Colts will likely be heading into their Week 6 battle with the weight squarely on the franchise’s passer yet again. Connor and Matt talk about the Jets’ running game and how that might be a sore spot for the Jets heading into this week after a breakout game from Isaiah Crowell. Will Bilal Powell be their top runner Sunday, or could Crowell return and, if so, how can the Colts hold him in check?
Also, Matt takes you into the Jets’ Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos and attempts to identify some tendencies, some of their interesting packages -- on both sides of the ball -- and how the Colts can attempt to get the edge in this one.
This will be a physical and talented jets’ roster for the Colts to deal with regardless of record. Rookie Sam Darnold has a very similar scheme set up for him, and we’ll talk about how the Colts can keep him from getting into a rhythm, as well as which playmakers and alignments they’ll have to be prepared for.
