Poll: Impact Plays week 12 Colts vs Dolphins

NFL: Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

In a game that the Colts tried, time and time again to give away, they came away with a victory against a well prepared Dolphins team. I don’t want to take anything away from these Dolphins as they played hard and Adam Gase out coached Frank Reich and company, but had our Colts played against a better team today, they would have been blown out. There were two streaks that everyone was talking about coming into this game. Andrew Luck had to be sacked eventually, it’s park of the game, it had to happen.

I expect, when I rewatch this game and then review the all-22, Ryan Kelly’s absence will be very obvious. Luck was sacked for the first time in six games worth of quarters, which is absolutely insane. Andrew Luck also continued his streak of 3 touchdown passing games tying Peyton Manning for second most of all time with eight straight and Luck used a little of the magic we’ve seen from him so many times before to set up the game winning field goal.

Also, just a quick aside, while I appreciate the fact it picked up a first down and I realize Andrew Luck weighs 240 pounds and is able to take more hits than a lot of quarterbacks, can we get a message to Nick Sirianni and Frank Reich: For the love of everything good in this world, please stop using Andrew Luck as a receiver, unless it’s the Super Bowl. Then, yeah pull out all the stops. Until then use anyone else. Call a different play. Put Le’Raven Clark at wideout, anyone, anyone at all, just please protect Andrew Luck.

Each week, I look to break down two of the best or worst plays or situations from the previous game, but I rely on the help of the Stampede Blue community to decide what plays should be given a closer look as I hope to explain what happened in greater detail than the broadcasters can. Often you’ll hear “how did that guy get so open?” and I hope to be able to answer that question for Colts fans this season.

This week my votes are going to Kenyan Drake’s third quarter touchdown run. I want to try to understand why there was such a massive hole and who was responsible for it and T.Y. Hilton’s long run after catching a screen on the Colts side of the field. There were a few good options in what was a tight game, so let me know in the comments if there’s anything I missed.

For the record I’m not going to break down penalties or bad spots. There were a few of each in this one, but I’m just not going to take the time to break those down.
