The Indianapolis Colts have signed wide receiver Rodney Adams to a reserve/future contract.
Adams (6-1, 189, 23) was a fifth-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings out of the University of South Florida in 2017. He spent the first half of the season on Minnesota’s active roster, but the second half on the practice squad. Adams played with Colts 2017 fourth-round draft pick Marlon Mack at USF.
Adams was a multi-factor threat in college. He started 29-of-43 games and caught 137 passes for 1,982 yards (14.5 avg) and 16 touchdowns. He also totaled 40 carries for 375 yards (9.4 avg) and 7 touchdowns. On special teams, he returned 46 kickoffs for 1,140 yards (24.8 avg) and 1 touchdown. Adams spent the beginning of his college career at Toledo (2013) before transferring to USF (2014-’16).
I spoke with a buddy of mine who is a Vikings fan. He wanted the team to keep Adams around because he showed some flashes and could be a return man, but said the team just didn’t have room to keep Adams around.
