Wednesday’s injury report made for a very rough start to the week after the Colts’ Week 4 loss to the Oakland Raiders. While Darius Leonard was at least limited, and Pierre Desir disappeared from the injury report altogether, there were far too many names on the list for the Colts to be competitive with the Chiefs.
Marlon Mack is such an important piece to the Colts’ prospects of success, Tyquan Lewis is a piece up front defensively that can provide some run support as well as create some pressure, and there are several others on this list that play important roles for the Colts going forward.
Today, however, we’ve got a few changes. T.Y. Hilton was back in action in a limited role, while Rock Ya-Sin looks to have injured his hip at some point. Maybe it’s a holdover from Sunday, or possibly something that occurred yesterday, but either way the Colts secondary has taken another hit.
Parris Campbell, Clayton Geathers, Malik Hooker, Tyquan Lewis and Marlon Mack were all non-participants today, and Jabaal Sheard took a rest day after getting his first action of the season last week.
Some good news comes with Darius Leonard getting consecutive days on the field. The Colts could really use Leonard, given his replacements’ struggles to make plays without him in the lineup.
The safety position could also be a key spot to watch with Quincy Wilson getting some work in there. It’s hard to say how well George Odum could fill in with limited action as of late. He didn’t fare well last year in Arrowhead, and it’s fair to presume the Chiefs haven’t forgotten that either.
