Opponent QB Stat Tracker: Ryan Fitzpatrick

NFL: New York Jets at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Weekly dashboard of QB stats. Thanks to the nflscrapR project and the NFL Next Gen Stats who are the timely sources of this data. Shout-out to Arrowhead Pride’s Ethan Douglas whose weekly advanced analytics articles inspired some of these reports (OK, I stole them). Commentary will be brief but feel free to let me know in the comments that stats aren’t everything.

HOW WELL?

Ryan Fitzpatrick’s numbers are kinda all over the place. Looks like 3 decent games and 3 bad ones. Fitzmagic!

TO WHO?

He targets Preston Williams and DeVante Parker about equally but Williams has the most overall production.

Mike Gesicki provides the most per target value and for a TE runs pretty long routes.

HOW FAR?

Fitzpatrick likes to throw the ball long. He also likes to throw the ball poorly.

His passing TDs are from short yardage (about the same as Jacoby Brissett).

HOW ACCURATE?

His accuracy has been improving. He’s money between 11-25 yards out and bizarrely has trouble with the shorter passes. Fitzmagic!

HOW QUICK?

He is one of the most volatile QBs in terms of time to throw and sack rate, but on the whole has the most average numbers of those metrics. Like almost exactly average. Fitzmagic!
