The Indianapolis Colts today elevated quarterback Chad Kelly and wide receiver Marcus Johnson from the practice squad and waived defensive Kyle Peko and wide receiver Deon Cain.

Quarterback Chad “Swag” Kelly was signed to the Colts in May 2019. He was originally drafted by the Broncos in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft from Ole Miss. He only managed to appear in one game for the Broncos before being released. This move is due to Jacoby Brissett’s status being now downgraded from QUESTIONABLE to now OUT. Kelly will be the backup quarterback to Brian Hoyer against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday.

Wide receiver Marcus Johnson was acquired by the Colts via trade with the Seattle Seahawks just before the start of the 2018 regular season he was active in five games for the Colts in 2018 before being sent to injured reserve with a ankle injury. He was waived during final cuts in the offseason before being re-signed to the teams practice squad on October 1st. He will join the Colts wide receivers Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers and Ashton Dulin as TY Hilton and Parris Campbell are both OUT this week.

Defensive tackle Kyle Peko, was signed earlier in the week by the Colts. He was originally signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent after the 2016 NFL Draft. He also played for the Bills from 2018-2019 appearing in 11 career games for both the Broncos and Bills.

Wide receiver Deon Cain was drafted by the Colts in the 2018 NFL Draft in the sixth round from Clemson. He saw action in seven games this year for the Colts this year but was quite underwhelming only managing four catches for 52 yards.
