Thought of this idea the other day and thought it would be fun to discuss this with fellow Colts fans.
The Question: If you could replace three players from any NFL team with the current starters on the Colts, which 3 players would improve the Colts the most?
Things to consider; age, salary, scheme fit, production, etc of not only the player we are getting, but the one we'd be giving up as well.
My picks:
Chris Jones for Margus Hunt: Jones is 24 years old and on his rookie contract, had 15 sacks last year and was a disruptive force in our playoff loss vs the Chiefs. No one is Aaron Donald but he has as close of production as it gets, is young, cheap, and I believe he'd fit in very well next to Autry. Don't get me wrong, I like Hunt, but this would be a huge upgrade.
Myles Garrett for Jabaal Sheard: With a Dline of Garrett, Autry, Jones, and Houston we'd have the best front 4 in football. Garrett is on a rookie contract and is only 23 years old. Dude had 13.5 sacks last year and is just an overall exciting football player and also a good clubhouse dude from what I hear.
Barkley for Marlon Mack: Disclaimer, I am a big Marlon Mack fan and think he can be a 3 down back that has a big year this year. I know Colts fans are torn on him. I think a guy like Barkley, who is 22, is just that much better than everyone else. He'd be so fun to watch behind our oline and playing with Luck.
I went with the strategy of young and cheap but I am excited to hear different opinions and strategies!
