Tight end Mo Alie-Cox did not practice today with a knee injury. Alie-Cox missed a full weeks practice leading up to the Bengals game and also missed the Bengals game because of the injury. With Alie-Cox continuing, especially after a weeks rest during the bye week, ti appears to be a more serious injury than first thought.
Both defensive end Denico Autry and tight end Jack Doyle missed today’s practice with a not injury related designation. Autry and Doyle may be one to be monitored as the week goes on.
Safety Julian Blackmon, tight end Trey Burton and defensive end Justin Houston all missed practice today due to rest. Blackmon is still only less than a year removed from a ACL tear, Burton strained his calf in training camp and Houston is an ageing veteran who has appeared on the injury report previously with lower limb injuries, so all are due a rest during the weeks practice to remain fresh.
Center Ryan Kelly was limited today with a knee injury. Kelly has previously appeared on the injury report this year with leg injuries so will his progress will be something to watch this week. The depth behind Kelly is rookie Danny Pinter who is yet to take any meaningful NFL snaps so far this year.
Linebacker Darius Leonard was limited today with a groin injury. Leonard finally makes his return to practice after missing the last two games and nearly 3 weeks of practice. Leonard, although it was limited, returning to practice is a big move as he is a vital piece to the defense.
Offensive tackle Chaz Green practiced fully today after missing the Bengals game with a back injury. Green’s return to practice should bode well for him returning fully this week. Green is a back up tackle to both Anthony Castonzo and Braden Smith.
